“Fearless Girl” Is Still Inside You
Remember that fearless girl you were as a child? The one unafraid to climb the unknown tree that called her name on the way home from school? Boldly dropping your book bag, you hiked yourself up with no plan of how high you would climb. Because you would climb until there were no more branches to reach for. Taking in a view impossible at ground level.
You are still that girl.
Women seem to be taking alot of hits these passed few years. Feeling marginalized, underpaid, unappreciated, even denigrated. These are images from media headlines that love to scream the negative.
I have just returned from the Womens March on Washington and I can tell you unequivocally, that Fearless Girl lives on. She lives on through the thousands of women who crowded the Capital last Saturday. Who traveled on trains and buses and stood in the winter chill, homemade signs held high.
It was empowering to be amongst a sea of pink-hatted women as I took the train from Balitmore to D.C. There we were, grown-up Fearless Girls all, on our way to have our voices heard. Let that spirit live on today and everyday, as there is so much work to be done.
There are after all, many “Nancy Pelosi’s” among us.
